Term: May 19th – August 14th, 2025 (12 weeks)

Position Overview

Pickleball Manitoba Inc. is seeking two enthusiastic and energetic summer students, preferably enrolled in Physical Education, Recreation Studies, Kinesiology, or a related field, to support the delivery of a province-wide youth pickleball roadshow.

This exciting program introduces youth (ages 12–17) to pickleball through fun, skill-building clinics hosted in community centers and parks across Manitoba. The successful candidates will help plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging programming while promoting active living and sport development.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Assist in the planning and delivery of a 6-week youth pickleball roadshow (July 2 – August 14th)

· Travel to communities across Manitoba to support and lead 1-2-day youth clinics

· Help instruct participants in fundamental skills (grip, stance, strokes, serving, gameplay)

· Lead warm-ups, drills, and fun, skill-based games

· Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive learning environment

· Support clinic setup, equipment management, and teardown

· Assist with participant registration and on-site coordination

· Act as ambassadors for pickleball and Pickleball Manitoba

· Provide feedback and support continuous program improvement

 

Qualifications

· Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Physical Education, Recreation Studies, Kinesiology, or related field (preferred)

· Experience working with youth in sport or recreation settings

· Strong communication and leadership skills

· Energetic, positive, and team-oriented attitude

· Ability to travel and work flexible hours, and prepared to stay overnight in provided accommodations while delivering programming in rural Manitoba if necessary due to clinic scheduling.

· Valid driver’s license (necessary)

· First Aid/CPR certification (asset)

· Experience with pickleball or other racquet sports is an asset, but training will be provided regardless.

 

Program Details (What You’ll Help Deliver)

· Duration: 12 weeks total with 6-week youth roadshow in rural Manitoba beginning in June.

· Format: 1 to 2-day clinics in various communities

· Focus: Skill development, fun, and introduction to gameplay

· Activities Include:

o Skill instruction (groundstrokes, volleys, serving, dinking)

o Movement and positioning drills

o Singles and doubles gameplay

o Fun, skill-based games and competitions
