The City of Thompson is currently accepting applications for the management position in the Recreation and
Community Services Department:
The successful candidate will supervise staff and assist the Director of Recreation and Community Services overseeing
the development, and evaluation of recreational programs for participants at Thompson Regional Community Centre
and the New Aquatic Facility. Additionally, the role involves supervisory, administrative, and professional duties in the
operation of the recreational facilities and parks.
The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, training, managing, and fostering a positive and productive
work environment with the team of recreation staff, including supervising the aquatics staff, Pool Plant and Ice Plant
Operators, Laborers, Custodian staff, Recreation Coordinators, and others as assigned.
The successful candidate will preferably have a bachelor’s degree in a sports or recreation-related field, or a minimum
of 5 years experience in a supervisory role, supervising 10 plus staff members in a unionized environment. Knowledge
and comprehension of aquatic recreation, Ice arenas, recreational complexes, outdoor recreational programs, parks,
and programs, including accepted standards, principles, concepts, and related legislative mandates, knowledge of
pertinent federal, provincial, and local laws, codes, and regulations is also required. The candidate will possess strong
problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle diverse challenges. Excellent communication skills, both written
and oral, with the ability to follow and provide clear instructions.
The City of Thompson offers a competitive salary and extensive benefits package for this position commensurate with
