Aquatic Centre Lifeguard

Position: Aquatic Centre Lifeguard
Up to 40 hours per week. Position will require evening and weekend shifts.
The Aquatic Centre Lifeguard, under the direction the Gimli Aquatic Centre Manager and Director of Recreation & Leisure Services will provide guarding as well as emergency response to the public at the Gimli Aquatic Centre. Successful qualified candidates will also be instructing swim lessons under the Lifesaving Society of Manitoba’s program standards.
Duties:
• Adhere to and enforce all staff/facility policies
• Demonstrate effective water surveillance, first aid response and incident reporting
• Be well versed in facility-specific Aquatic Safety Plan and Emergency Procedures
• Demonstrate a willingness and ability to complete basic facility and pool sanitation duties
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
• Current or eligible to obtain National Lifeguard
• Standard First Aid + CPR-C Certification
• Minimum 16 years of age
Skills:
• Good communication skills, as this position deals with the public on a daily basis
• Ability to work well with others, have initiative and be flexible
• Ability to empower participants so they can be confident in swimming skills
• Arrives prepared and on time for work and consistently demonstrates
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manages their time and balance professional and personal commitments
